Turn Your Bathroom
into a Designer's Showcase
(ARA) – Tired of starting your day in
a bathroom that’s so ugly you’re glad it’s tucked back in the master
bedroom where no one else can see it? If so, it’s time for a change,
and you won’t be the only one making one.
According to the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI),
remodeling the bathroom was the most popular home improvement
project in 2007. Whether you’re planning to gut your bathroom and
start from scratch, or just give it a facelift that will bring it
into the 21st century, there are lots of ways to add great design
touches to the most frequently visited room in the house.
A good place to start is by flipping through the pages of a home
remodeling magazine and making note of the looks you like. As you
create your plan, focus on elements of comfort and elegance that
will transform your cold, dreary bath into your own personal
sanctuary.
Designs that are inspired by nature are expected to be extremely
popular this year. Whether you’re going with a nautical theme
complete with fish, sand and seashells, recreating a tropical oasis,
or bringing a path through the rainforest to life, a great way to
tie the look together is with a faucet that fits.
Those in Kohler’s Symbol collection, for example, have a relaxed
form that attracts the eye and triggers an emotional response that
has been likened to discovering a surprising shell on the beach or a
solitary flower in the forest. “Compared to bath environments still
dominated by architectural straight lines, Symbol is more poetic,”
says Keith Kometer, director of product marketing for Kohler
faucets. “The collection is not masculine or technological. It is
purely fluid and has an adaptable quality that can be quiet or
expressive as it reflects and enhances everything from minimalism to
Hollywood chic.”
The one-piece, seamless faucet bodies and single-handle styles of
the Symbol faucet offer an uncluttered look and easy control of the
water flow and temperature. All Symbol products are constructed from
premium materials and are available in multiple finishes.
Once you decide on the faucet, all the other elements of your design
will fall into place. For a nautical look, you can paint the walls
and cabinets blue, and accessorize with yellow towels tied together
to look like ropes. To create the feel of a rainforest, paint the
walls green and add a countertop waterfall. You can even set up a
waterproof CD player so you can listen to your favorite relaxing
music as you travel to lands far away in the sanctuary of your own
home.
